Acting on the radio is challenging, inspiring, delicate and always a privilege.

THE MUSEUM

The Museum was transmitted as part of BBC Radio 4's The Monday Play series on October 15, 2002 at 2:15 pm.  The play is 45 minutes long and the author is Leila Aboulela. The short story she wrote won the Caine Prize for African Writing in 2000.  Click here to read an interesting article about the defamiliarizing of Africa.

The production was directed by Bruce Young.

Radio Pick of the Day:

"The battle lines are drawn on Radio 4 this afternoon for a cultural and romantic war between the sexes. The battleground is Leila Aboulela's Caine Prize-winning short story - adapted by the author - about two students, Bryan (David Tennant) from Scotland, and Shadia (Wendy Baxter) from the Sudan, who meet at a Scottish university.

The pair find themselves attracted to each other, despite Shadia's obvious disapproval of Bryan's looks and views on Africa - until a museum trip brings matters to a head."
