Acting on the radio is challenging, inspiring, delicate and always a privilege.

SUNBURST FINISH

Sunburst Finish was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 as the Friday Play from 9:00 - 10:00 PM on May 24, 2002.

"A final year music student has everything going for him - except that he does not want to live."

The play was directed by Gaynor Macfarlane and written by Andrea Gibb with Paddy Cunneen

Andrea Gibb directed the short film Bite that David was in and Paddy wrote the music for Bite and the play Pillowman, which David starred in.

This is the description of the play from stageplays.com:

Note to self - You are dying’

As a young man’s depression turns to despair, suicide seems the only way out - the only way to take control ...

In spite of the bleakness of its subject, Sunburst Finish is filled with strong and vibrant voices, a rich mosaic of music, wit, warmth, insight, feeling, and a remarkable lack of sentimentality

The central character’s struggle to come to terms with himself and the world around him is one that all young (and not so young) people will relate strongly to.
