Stealing Shakespeare was first broadcast on July 29, 2010 at 10:35 pm on BBC One.  

The 50 minute documentary was produced by Christian Hills and narrated by David Tennant.

"The remarkable story of how a 53-year-old rare book dealer from the North East of England became the centre of a mystery surrounding the disappearance of a long lost Shakespeare First Folio.

The film follows bachelor Raymond Scott as he finds himself the focus of a worldwide investigation, involving the FBI, a Cuban fiancee and Durham CID." - BBC

"The man accused of stealing a rare Shakespeare first folio from Durham University has been cleared of the theft.  However, Raymond Scott, 53, from Wingate, County Durham, has been found guilty of handling stolen goods. 

He's also been found guilty of taking the folio - dating from 1623 and worth between £3m and £15m - out of the country.  The book of plays was taken from a glass cabinet at Durham University in 1998." BBC News - July 9, 2010



The DVD of this programme was only released in Australia (region 4) on  October 5, 2012.
