Acting on the radio is challenging, inspiring, delicate and always a privilege.

THE FIFTY FRIENDS OF SIMON GOBERSCHMITT

The Fifty Friends of Simon Goberschmitt was transmitted as part of BBC Radio 4's The Monday Play series on November 8, 1993 at 7:45 pm.  The play is 90 minutes long and the author is Robert Paterson.

The production was directed in the BBC Edinburgh studios by Patrick Rayner, who also directed The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Paint Her Well.

The play is set in Mrs. Urquette's lodging house in the west end of Glasgow. Mr. Goberschmitt's presence is made all the more mysterious by all of the letters he receives from around the world.  Who sends them and why? A sobering tale with its roots in the Nazi regime.
