DR. FINLAY: ADVENTURES OF A BLACK BAG
This series about Dr. Finlay was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in six episodes in October/November 2001. The stories are based on the book 'Country Doctor' by A.J. Cronin. The novella was made into a television show, Dr. Finlay's Casebook, broadcast on the BBC from 1962 - 1971.
In 1970-1978 BBC Radio 4 also broadcast Dr. Finlay's Casebook using some of the same actors as the television show. Both the TV series and the first radio series were set in the town of Tannochbrae, but the new radio series in 2001 was set in the town of Levenford, which was Cronin's original location in the books.
The new series was produced in Bristol by Jeremy Howe and dramatised by Sue Rodwell. The musical director was Nicholas Skilbeck.
Jeremy Howe also directed David in the second series of Dr Finlay and in the Strangers and Brothers episode The Affair.
David Tennant appeared in two* of the six 30 minute episodes in 2001 and he also appeared in one of the episodes in the 2002 series Dr. Finlay: Further Adventures of a Black Bag.
