Bear Snores On, written by Karma Wilson and illustrated by Jane Chapman, is one is a series of stories about 'Bear'.  This is a description of his character from Karma's website:

"Bear, the cuddly, loveable main character of the Bear books, is most well known for being a good and faithful friend. His favorite foods are berries, fish and popcorn. His friends say he is an excellent storyteller.  When he isn’t sleeping Bear enjoys playing with his woodland pals. He is also an excellent swimmer, and loves taking a dip on a hot, summer day. Bear lives in the deep, dark woods and he makes his home in a cozy lair."

The story: "It seems like Bear can sleep through anything. As a succession of animals enter his cave to escape the fierce storm, he continues to snore. Mouse makes a nice warm fire, Hare cooks popcorn and Badger brings treats...They are having a great time. But when Bear wakes up and realises he's missed out on the fun, his visitors fear the worst. Can Bear be persuaded to join the party?"
